Risk-based due diligence
The scope and depth of review depend on client type, ownership, jurisdiction, service, product, source of funds, delivery channel and other relevant risk factors.
- Identity and legal existence
- Ownership and ultimate beneficial owners
- Authority of directors, signatories and representatives
- Purpose and expected nature of the relationship
- Source of funds or wealth where relevant
Screening and enhanced review
Clients, beneficial owners and connected persons may be screened against applicable sanctions, politically exposed person and adverse-information sources.
Higher-risk cases may require senior approval, additional documents, independent verification, enhanced source-of-funds or source-of-wealth review and more frequent updates.
Ongoing monitoring
Information may be refreshed during the relationship. Activity is reviewed against the known profile, expected purpose and applicable legal requirements.
The firm may pause or refuse instructions while information is incomplete, inconsistent or under review.
Records, confidentiality and reporting
KYC, approval and transaction records are retained for applicable statutory and regulatory periods and protected through access and security controls.
Where required by law, information may be provided to competent authorities. The firm may be prohibited from notifying a person about a report, enquiry or restriction.
Client responsibilities
Clients and representatives must provide accurate, complete and current information and promptly notify the firm of material changes.

- Explain ownership, authority and the economic purpose of activity
- Respond promptly to reasonable information requests
- Use accounts and services only for lawful purposes
Acceptance and contact
Portfolio Investments may decline, restrict, suspend or terminate a relationship or transaction where legal, regulatory, sanctions, risk or information requirements are not satisfied. The firm may be unable to explain every decision in detail.
